Breast Related Problems Treatment

In order to detect breast related problems, your doctors will need to conduct an ultrasound or mammogram to inspect any small lumps or other problems that are not found in a test. Treatment and diagnosis usually go hand in hand in case of breast lumps. For instance, your doctor may need to draw out the fluid by inserting a needle in a cyst to remove the cyst and to test the fluid. If the fluid is clear and cyst goes away, your doctor might want to diagnose the same as a benign cyst and further treatment is not required. A lot of doctors are known to take further precautions of checking the fluid in the lab test. If a lump doesn’t go away and is found after the next period, you might need to reexamine.

If there is bloody fluid coming out of a suspected cyst or no fluid coming out, it might be a matter of concern and your doctor will need to inspect for cancer with a biopsy. A biopsy might be the only way to diagnose the fibroadenomas. In the surgical procedure on the same day, surgical removal is the only cure in case of painful or large fibroadenomas. But treatment is not recommended. Nipple adenomas are removed with surgery as they are often caused by breast cancer.

Intraductal papillomas are other common elements that are removed with surgery before they can grow wide enough to clog milk ducts.

What are the Common Treatment Options?

Home Remedies

Apply a hot water bottle or heat pad for up to 20 to 30 minutes to the breast to relieve pain. Follow the instructions given by the manufacturer and don’t fall asleep while applying a heating pad. To reduce movement of breasts and to reduce pain until the tenderness gets reduced, your doctor may recommend a sports bra or bra, i.e. even for the whole day and night.

Diet and Nutrition

Alcohol and an unhealthy diet are the major culprits behind breast cancer. Though there is no evidence which claim that diet can lead to tumors, several studies show that they are associated. For example, you can reduce the breast cysts by avoiding caffeine. You can reduce fat to 20% of total calorie intake on a daily basis to eliminate or shrink lumps.

To cure and treat breast swelling every month, you may be recommended to eat a balanced diet and maintain a healthy weight. Salt can cause swelling on the breast. So, it is recommended to eat less salt around your menstrual period. Don’t consume caffeine and substances like methylxanthines (commonly found in tea and hot chocolate) to ease breast pain.

Some doctors may even suggest that you take vitamin E supplements every day, i.e. in doses of around 800 IU to cure breast pain. You can get some relief by applying primrose oil in the evening.
